STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Senior
Kortnee Hass (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) scored twice in the second half as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (9-1-2, 2-0-1) rolled to a 3-0 win over UW-River Falls (8-4-1, 2-1-0) on Saturday.
The Pointers dominated play in the first half, out-shooting the Falcons 12-0. UWSP was unable to capitalize on four corner kicks and the match went to halftime with no score.
Hass changed that in the 51st minute. She tapped in a corner kick from
Jacqueline Aleman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) to give UWSP a 1-0 lead.
Three minutes later,
Maddy Hardyman (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) scored her team-leading eighth goal of the year on a counter attack. She got a great feed from
Olivia Bohnert (Oshkosh, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) and beat the goalkeeper low to the back post.
Hass put the game out of reach with her second tally of the match in the 56th minute.
Meaghan Ambelang (Stuttgart, Germany/Patch/Stuttgart) sent a cross in from the right side and Hass put a low shot in the back of the net.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Lexi Pawlowski (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) recorded her fourth shutout of the season with three easy saves in the win.
Hardyman and Aleman combined for 11 of the Pointers 21 shots in the match. UWSP's defense allowed four harmless shots late in the second half.
The Pointes return to action at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 7) against St. Thomas at Goerke Park.
