STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The second-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (1-0-1) tied 2-2 against Trine (0-1-1).
Sophomore
Zach Zech (South Lyon, Mich.) put the Pointers up 1-0 at the 8:12 mark of the first period, getting the assist was junior
Logan Fredericks (Millstone Township, N.J.).
Trine's Corey Robertson answered one minute and 36 seconds later at 9:48 to tie the game at one.
With time winding down in the opening period and the Thunder on the power-play, Trine's Blake Robertson found the net with just 32 seconds remaining to give the Thunder a 2-1 advantage.
Junior
Luke McElhenie (Sauk City, Wis.) came through for the Pointers, scoring the tying goal at 17:05 in the second period.
The Pointers held the Thunder to no shots on goal in the third, but were unable to convert any chances.
Freshman goaltender
Eli Billing (Windsor, Ont.) got his first career start and finished with 10 saves. Trine's Brett Young kept the Thunder in the game seeing 46 shots, saving 44.
The Pointers head to Minnesota next weekend (Nov. 2 and 3) to face Hamline and Bethel. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. both nights.
