DE PERE, Wis. – Junior goaltender
Sydney Conley (South St. Paul, MN/South St. Paul) stopped all 27 shots she faced as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (7-5-1) shut out host St. Norbert (4-7-1) by a 3-0 score to complete the season sweep of the Green Knights.
Ali Biagini (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater) got the Pointers on the board 12:57 into the first period with her team-leading sixth tally of the year.
Alex Grubbs (Minong, WI/Spooner) and
Cassie Newcomer (McFarland, WI/Madison Capitols) picked up assists on what turned out to be the game-winning goal.
Less than a minute later, freshman
McKenna Butcher (Sun Prairie, WI/Madison Capitols) netted her second career tally on assists from
Emma Berthiaume (South Haven, MN/Hutchinson) and
Lauren Smith (Antigo, WI/Antigo).
Early in the second period,
Maddie Schlossmacher (Roseville, MN/Roseville) scored to give UWSP a 3-0 lead.
Cara Lemirande (Janesville, WI/Madison Capitols) added her team-best seventh assist of the season on the play. Freshman
Shannon Motzko (Woodbury, MN/Woodbury) also got an assist, her first collegiate point.
The Pointers return home to face first-year program Aurora at Ice Hawks Arena this weekend. Friday's game will start at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday puck drop is slated for 2:30 p.m.
