STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 4/5 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team used a three-goal second period to defeat Concordia College (Minn.), 3-2, on Friday evening at K.B. Willett Arena.
Down a goal in the second period, junior
B.J. Duffin (Red Deer, AB/) tallied his first goal of the season to kick start the UWSP (11-3-2) offense 3:26 into the middle period.
Less than four minutes later,
Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, OK/) tallied his team-leading 11
th goal of the season to give the Pointers a 2-1 edge over of Concordia College (6-5-3).
At the 15:30 mark of the second period,
Willem Nong-Lambert (Des Moines, Iowa/) netted a power-play goal to put the Pointers up 3-1 entering the final period.
At 13:06 of the third period, Blake Berg scored to put the Cobbers within one. Zach Doerring opened the scoring for CC netting a goal at 16:26 of the opening period, before the UWSP second period breakout.
Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI/) recorded 23 saves for the Pointers.
UWSP returns to action tomorrow (Jan. 6) taking on St. Olaf at 7:00 p.m. at K.B. Willett Arena.
