WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team recorded 116 and a second-place finish in the nine-team field at the UW-Whitewater's Warhawk Classic Invitational & Multi-Events.
Results
Leah Trempe (Combined Locks, Wis./Kimberly),
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot),
Makani Peters (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) and
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, Wis./Hartford Union) won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:00.86.
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) tallied a first-place finish in the long jump. She jumped a distance of 5.52 meters (18' 1.50"), just 0.01 meters further than the runner-up. Lewis also earned a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.87.
Makani Peters (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) tallied a first-place finish in the 800-meter run. She finished with a time of 2:20.54. Teammates
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) and
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis./Big Foot) followed in third- and fourth-place respectively with times of 2:21.21 and 2:22.64.
Briana Simonis (Rosholt, Wis./Rosholt) finished in second place in the high jump. She cleared a height of 1.56 meters (5' 1.25").
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) threw a distance of 12.76 meters (41' 10.50") in the shot put, good for second place.
Mertens also tallied a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.89. Teammate Trempe followed with a fourth-place finish at 59.79.
Emily Schlebecker (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein),
Bailey Wolf (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls) and
Kara Hoier (New London, Wis./New London) went second-third-fourth in the one mile run with times of 5:20.03, 5:20.68 and 5:27.32, respectively.
Karen Wethal (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) finished in third place in the weight throw. She threw a distance of 15.43 meters (50' 7.50").
The Pointers return home for the Pointer Invite on Saturday (Feb. 3). The meet is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Multi-Activity Center.
