STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field team opened up the 2018 season on Saturday as they hosted the Pointer Alumni meet with Lawrence and St. Norbert competing in the field.
Results
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, WI/Hartford Union),
Brooke Wellhausen (Williams Bay, Wis. /Big Foot),
Makani Peters (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) and
Rebecca Alter (Trevor, Wis./Wilmot) dominated the top four spots of the 400-meter dash. The group each finished with times of 1:00.61, 1:01.26, 1:02.42 and 1:02.54, respectively.
Bailey Wolf (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls),
Georgia Harrison (West Bend, Wis./East),
Rachel Halbach (Kiel, Wis. /Kiel) and
Ellen Peterson (Menomonie, Wis. /Menomonie) won the top four spots of the 800-meter run. The group each finished with times of 2:24.90, 2:30.51, 2:33.88 and 2:34.73.
Kara Hoier (New London, WI/New London),
Michelle Petkovsek (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) and
Mada Laundrie (Kimberly, Wis. /Kimberly ) finished in the top three spots of the one mile run. The trio finished with times of 5:40.07, 5:48.39 and 5:49.91.
Anna Hogan (Omro, WI/Omro),
Makenzie Ward (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly),
Briana Simonis (Rosholt, Wis./Rosholt) and
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) dominated the top four spots of the high jump. Hogan, Ward, and Simonis each cleared 1.50 meters (4' 11"), while Momont cleared 1.45 meters (4' 9").
Karen Wethal (Evansville, WI/Evansville) tallied a first-place finish in the shot put, throwing a distance of 12.26 meters (40' 2.75"). She also tallied a fourth-place finish in the weight throw, with a throw of 14.40 meters (47' 3").
Adrienne Lewis (Kimberly, Wis. /Kimberly) timed an 8.03 in the 60-meter dash, good for a first-place finish. Teammate
Tatiana Sotka (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) followed in third place with a time of 8.38.
Caitlin Falk (Mayville, Wis. /Mayville) finished in third place in the 300-meter dash. She finished with a time of 45.05.
On the men's side,
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) tallied a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash. He ran a 22.62. Teammate
Lee Jepsen (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) finished in third place with a time of 23.60.
Alex Egbert (La Crosse, WI/Aquinas),
Josh Schaefer (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) and
Matt Stelmasek (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) earned the top three spots in the 800-meter run. Each runner clocking in with times of 1:59.17, 1:59.40 and 2:00.98.
Kyle Nowak (Stratford, WI/Stratford) threw a distance of 15.59 meters (51' 1.75") in the shot put, good for first place.
Tom Kohn (Minnetonka, Minn. /Minnetonka) earned a set of first-place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles and triple jump. The freshman ran a 8.61 and jumped 14.02 meters (46' 0").
Brayden Bernhagen (Markesan, Wis./Markesan) finished in second place in the high jump. Bernhagen cleared the bar with a height of 1.85 meters (6' 0.75").
The Pointers travel south to Platteville, Wis. for the WIAC Triangular hosted by UW-Platteville on Saturday (Jan. 20). The meet is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
