Pointers Fall 2-1 At Augsburg

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Augsburg tallied a pair of unanswered goals to knock off the third-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team fell 2-1 on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

At 9:43 of mark of the third period, Augsburg's (11-5-0) Matt Nehls gave the Auggies a 2-1 advantage over UW-Stevens Point (12-4-2). The Pointers fired ten shots on goal in the final period but were unable to find the equalizer, including two in the final 1:47 while skating with an extra attacker.

Brennen Miller (Keller, TX/) tallied the opening goal of the contest at the 14:29 mark of the first to give UW-Stevens Point a 1-0 lead over Auggies heading into the second period.

At 14:33 of the second period, Lukas Gillett leveled the game at one on the power play before Nehls third period goal.

Senior Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI/) turned away 22 shots in goal for UWSP.

The Pointers square off with Saint John's tomorrow (Jan. 13) evening at the Anoka Ice Center in Anoka, Minn. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
