Jerry Williams (Watertown, WI/Watertown) led the UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team to a third-place finish at the Augustana Meet of Champions on Saturday. He won the 100-meter dash and the triple jump to lead the Pointers to a point total of 138, besting two other WIAC teams.
Results
Williams finished in first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.68 seconds. He also picked up the win in the triple jump with a distance of 15.10 meters (49' 6.50").
Williams' day was not over when he and teammate
Mackenzie James (Wauwatosa, Wis./East) went two-three in the long jump. The duo finished with a distances of 7.38 meters (24' 2.50") and 7.29 meters (23' 11").
Jeremy Lee (Viroqua, WI/Viroqua) and Abraham Schroedl dominated the decathlon going first and second, respectively. The duo completed their day with point totals of 6,560 and 6,256.
Christian Ferguson (Milwaukee, Wis./SCTE) jumped to a second-place finish for the Pointers in the high jump. Ferguson finished his event with a height of 2.04 meters (6' 8.25").
Logan Heil (Weston, WI/DC Everest) finished in second place in the hammer throw with a distance of 56.19 meters (184' 04").
Brent Reierson (Watertown, WI/Watertown) picked up a fourth-place finish in the discus. Reierson launched the disk for a distance of 48.69 meters (159' 09"). He also finished in fifth-place in the shot put with a distance of 15.53 meters (50' 11.50") and in sixth in the javelin with a distance of 50.01 meters (164' 01').
Nick Lawson (Madison, Wis./West) finished in fourth place in the 800-meter run. His time of 1:55.63 was less than one second short of first.
The 4x100-meter relay team of
Tanner Akers (Westfield, WI/Westfield),
Michael Von Schledorn (Lomira, Wis./Lomira),
Lee Jepsen (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale), and
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) finished fifth with a time of 42.42 seconds. Wojt later teamed up with
Michael Pomaville (Dousman, WI/Mukwonago),
Noah Scheer (Elkhorn, WI/East Troy) and
Jayden Jesse (Genoa City, Wis./Wilmot) in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing with a time of 3:24.95, good for seventh-place.
The Pointers travel to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays on April 28 and 29.
