ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team finished third in the 10-team field at the Augustana Invite on Friday.
Results
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Kathy Derks (Greenville, WI/Hortonville),
Abby Clement (Reedsburg, WI/Reedsburg),
Makani Peters (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) and
Sarah Vils (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) won the event in a time of 3:55.30, more than two seconds faster than the runner-up team from Monmouth.
Clement placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.67 seconds. Vils also picked up a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.22 seconds. Teammate
Tatiana Sotka (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) finished fifth with a time of 26.78 seconds.
Isabella Weekly (Plainfield, WI/Tri County) cleared 1.60 meters (5' 3") on her third attempt to place second in the high jump. She also placed second in the long jump with a distance of 5.37 meters (17' 7.50").
Jacklyn Butler (Oshkosh, WI/West) ran a 14.94 in the 100-meter hurdles to place second by just .09 seconds. Butler placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.64.
Bailey Wolf (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls) and
Kara Hoier (New London, WI/New London) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Wolf ran the event in 11:40.25, less than two seconds ahead of Hoier.
UWSP also finished three-four in the 1,500-meter run. Derks ran a 4:42.89 to place third with
Emily Schlebecker (Mundelein, IL/Mundelein) right behind in fourth.
Jordan Tyjeski (Beaver Dam, WI/Beaver Dam) landed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.70 meters (156' 6").
Larkin Hoepner (Eau Claire, Wis./North) and
Karen Wethal (Evansville, WI/Evansville) also placed in the top-10 in the event out of 31 competitors.
Wethal and Hoepner each tossed 11.81 meters (38' 9") and 11.48 meters (37' 8"), respectively, in the shot put to finish in the top-8. Hopener, Tyjeski and Wethal rounded out the top-10 in the discus throw, each throwing a distance of 40.46 meters (132' 9") or more.
Anna Hogan (Omro, WI/Omro) reached a distance of 10.55 meters (34' 7.50") in the triple jump, good for seventh.
The UWSP men's team will compete in the Meet of Champions at Augustana on Saturday. The first event begins at 10:00 a.m.
