MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams wrapped up the WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's) with the final day of competition on Saturday at the UW-Stout. The men and women both earned second place. The women edged UW-Oshkosh by a half point, 103.50 to 103. The men racked up 117 points, but UW-La Crosse swept the team titles.

Individually,
Sylviann Momont (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) won the pentathlon with a score of 3,394, just 70 points shy of breaking the school record.
Kathy Derks (Greenville, WI/Hortonville) outran the field to win the 800-meter run. Derks' time was 2:13.94, just one second away from the school record in the event.
In the first day of competition,
Abby Clement (Reedsburg, WI/Reedsburg) broke the school record in the 60-meter dash. During the second day of competition, Clement matched her school record and picked up the runner up spot with a time of 7.78.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Derks,
Sarah Vils (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee),
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, WI/Hartford Union) and
Leah Trempe (Combined Locks, WI/Kimberly) competed together. The team finished third with a time of 3:55.42, one of three team to break the facility record along with UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater.
Jacklyn Butler (Oshkosh, WI/West) picked up a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Butler finished with a time of 9.19 seconds.
For the men,
Jerry Williams (Watertown, WI/Watertown) won his second event in as many days. He took the title in the triple jump with a distance of 14.34. Williams also picked up a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.97 seconds.
Jeremy Lee (Viroqua, WI/Viroqua) and
Abrahm Schroedl (DeForest, Wis./DeForest) finished in second and third place, respectively, in the heptathlon. The duo finished with scores of 4,795 and 4,579.
Logan Heil (Weston, WI/DC Everest) finished in the runner-up spot in the weight throw with a distance of 18.05 meters.
Darin Ward (Fond du Lac, WI/St. Mary's Springs) also picked up a runner-up place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.19 seconds.
Freshman
Calden Wojt (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.24 seconds.
The Pointers return to the Multi-Activity Center on March 4 for the Pointer Final Qualifier. The meet is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
