Third Period Rally Leads Pointers to 5-3 Victory Over CUW

STEVENS POINT, Wis. –The ninth-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team tallied a pair of goals in the third period to knock off Concordia (Wis.), 5-3, on Friday evening at K.B. Willett Arena, in the team's annual Teddy Bear Toss.
 
Tied at three in the third period, freshman forward Zach Zech (South Lyon, MI) tallied his second goal of the season to put UW-Stevens Point (8-3-1) up 4-3 over Concordia (7-3-1). Zech's goal would hold on to be the game-winner, after Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, OK/) buried an empty-net goal in the final minute.
Sophomore defenseman Drew McLean (Waterford, MI/) got the Pointers on the scoreboard 4:12 into the game off assists by Karty and Willem Nong-Lambert (Des Moines, Iowa/). McLean's goal gave UWSP a 1-0 lead entering the second period.
 
In the second period, Adam Fauchoux scored a shorthanded goal, evening the game 5:32 into the second period. Less than a minute later, Stephan Beauvais (Shelby Township, MI/) tallied a power-play goal, regaining the UWSP lead.
 
Midway through the second period McLean found the back of the net for the second time to put UWSP up 3-1 over the Falcons.
 
In the closing minutes of the middle period, Connor Hogg and Jim Pearson tallied back-to-back goals in the span of 1:15, tying the game at three heading into the final period.
 
Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI/) made 27 saves in the victory for UWSP, including 12 in the second period alone.
 
UWSP closes out the 2017 calendar year hosting Adrian on Dec. 12 and 13. Both games are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at K.B. Willett Arena. Tuesday night's contest will feature the TV Giveaway sponsored by Scaffidi Motors
