ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (1-3-1) fell behind early and could not rebound in a 4-2 loss to No. 8 St. Thomas (4-0-0) on Saturday.
Freshman
Emma Berthiaume (South Haven, MN/Hutchinson) netted her first career goal for UWSP. Her tally in the second period pulled UWSP within 3-1.
Later in the second period, junior
Allison Karrmann (Cannon Falls, MN/Emerson Prep) scored her first goal of the year to get the Pointers within on at 3-2. Senior
Ali Biagini (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater) had an assist on the play, her team-leading third helper of the year.
The Tommies opened the scoring with a pair of first-period goals by Allie Borgstrom. Early in the second period, UST added a third goal 40 seconds prior to Berthiaume's goal.
Late in the second period, the Tommies netted a fourth goal of the game. Neither team found the back of the net in the third period.
Junior goaltender
Sydney Conley (South St. Paul, MN/South St. Paul) made 30 saves for UWSP. The Pointers put 25 shots on net and UST netminder Paige Kittelson stopped 23 of them.
The Pointers open conference play next week with a 2:05 p.m. matchup at UW-River Falls on Saturday (Nov. 11).
