RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (8-6-2, 2-2-2) conceded an early goal and fell at UW-River Falls (4-12-1, 1-3-1) by a 1-0 score on UWRF's Senior Day.

The Falcons came out with early offensive pressure.  Three corner kicks in the first 14 minutes put UWSP in a tough spot and the Falcons found the back of the net following the third corner.

UWSP tested the UWRF keeper for the first time in the 28th minute on a shot by Kortnee Hass (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg)Kayla Huber (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) registered the Pointers' other shot on goal in the first half, but UWSP was unable to even the score at the half.

The Pointers got the offense in motion in the second half.  Olivia Bohnert (Oshkosh, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) hit the post in the 56th minute and fired another shot on frame in the 60th minute.

UWSP had back-to-back corner kicks late in the second half, but were not able to convert on either.  In the 89th minute another corner kick was awarded to the Pointers, but the last ditch effort was to no avail in the shutout defeat.

Senior goalkeeper Sarah Peplinski (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) made seven saves for the Pointers. She stopped six in the first half and turned aside her lone shot on in the second.

The Pointers return home on Sunday to face Edgewood at 1:00 p.m. in the "Play for a Cause" game.  UWSP will raise money for the Mia Hamm Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for families in need of a marrow or cord blood transplant and to the development of more opportunities for young women in sports.  Fans will have the opportunity to bid on an autographed Mia Hamm soccer ball and jersey along with other raffle prizes.
