OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (23-8) stumbled to a straight-set loss against Carthage (16-8) in the final non-conference match of the Pointers' regular season.
Senior
Kendra Kundinger (Auburndale, Wis./Auburndale) continued her string of double-figure digs with a game-high 12.
Lisa Bedessem (Burlington, Wis./Sauk Prairie) added 10 digs for UWSP.
Sophomore
April Gehl (Hilbert, Wis./Hilbert) recorded a team-best 10 kills. Senior
Kelly Magliano (Chicago, Ill./Mount Assisi Academy) had seven kills with a team-high .462 hitting percentage.
Abby Majercik (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) had 28 assists for the Pointers.
The opening set saw UWSP commit fewer errors than Carthage, but the Lady Reds converted 19 kills to take the set. The Pointers had just seven kills in a set two loss.
In the third set, UWSP out-hit Carthage with a .292 hitting percentage, but the Lady Reds closed out the match in extras, 28-26.
The Pointers travel to UW-River Falls and UW-La Crosse next Wednesday and Saturday to conclude the regular season. Wednesday's match against the Falcons begins at 7:00 p.m. and the season finale versus the Eagles starts at 2:00 p.m.
