Soccer Opens Home Stand with 6-0 Win

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (3-5-0) returned to Point Soccer Bowl and won decisively on Sunday, 6-0, over visiting Lawrence (1-5-0).  The victory runs the Pointers' win streak to three matches and the six goals scored is a season high.

Sophomore Kortnee Hass (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) had a breakout game offensively racking up six points on the day.  She scored two goals and assisted on two others in the win.

Fellow sophomore Elise Thuot (Hatley, WI/D.C. Everest) got the scoring started in the first minute of play.  She received a pass and fired a low shot into the net from about 12 yards out.  Sophomore Olivia Bohnert (Oshkosh, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) and Hass assisted on the goal.

In the 13th minute, Hass netted her first career goal.  She fired a line drive into the back of the net from just outside the top of the box.  Freshman Amanda Maestas (Plano, TX/Plano Senior High) registered an assist, her first career point.

The Pointers increased the lead early in the second half.  Bohnert tallied her second goal of the season in the 55th minute.  Hass pocketed her second helper of the match.

Three minutes later, Hass scored her second goal of the match to up the advantage to 4-0.  Freshman Reilly Louko (Oakfield, WI/North Fond du Lac) provided the assist.

In the 62nd minute, freshman Kassidy Spees (Nekoosa, WI) found the back of the net with an unassisted goal, her first career goal.

Junior Danielle Thomason (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) closed out the scoring with a goal in the 74th minute.  She chipped in the goal from 6 yards away with an assist from Spees.

For the second-consecutive match, the Pointers held a decisive shot advantage, outshooting the Vikings 27-3 in the match.  Hass led the way with six total shots, five on net.

UWSP continues a three-match home stand on Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. kick versus North Park.
