ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (2-5-0) fired on all cylinders offensively to end the current five-match road swing with a 4-0 win at Crown College (0-4-1) on Wednesday. More impressively, the Pointers fired 42 shots in the match putting 25 on net.
Sophomore
Olivia Bohnert (Oshkosh, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) got the scoring underway in the 10th minute on the fourth shot of the match by UWSP. It was her first goal of the season, third of her career, with an assist from freshman
Kassidy Spees (Nekoosa, WI).
Fellow freshman
Reilly Louko (Oakfield, WI/North Fond du Lac) doubled the UWSP lead in the 28th minute. The goal was the third of her young career and third goal in the last two matches.
In the second half, sophomore
Elise Thuot (Hatley, WI/D.C. Everest) got on the scoresheet for the second time this season to push the Pointers to a 3-0 advantage. Spees added her second assist of the match, her first career multi-point game.
The final tally came in the 88th minute. Thuot took a corner kick and the Crown defender put in an own goal for the 4-0 score.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Sarah Peplinski (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) played the first 45 minutes and faced just a single CC shot, but it went wide. Fellow sophomore keeper
Olivia Mecham (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee) was not tested as the Pointers held Crown without a shot in the second half.
UWSP returns home for the next three matches beginning with a 2:00 p.m. match against Lawrence on Sunday. The Pointers play North Park (Sept. 21) and North Central (Sept. 24) during the home stand to complete the non-conference home schedule.
