DE PERE Wis.— The UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team took first place, and the women's team took second at the St. Norbert invite on Saturday at Donald Schneider Stadium.
Women's Results
UWSP was propelled to second place from first place finishes from Abigail Clement in the 100 meter dash (12.64 seconds), Sarah Vils (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) in the 200 meter dash (27.70 seconds) Kathy Derks (Greenville, WI/Hortonville) in the 400 meter dash (59.43 seconds), Leah Trempe (Combined Locks, WI/Kimberly) in the 800 meter run (2:23.35), the 4x100 meter relay team (50.7 seconds) and Jacklyn Butler (Oshkosh, WI/West) in the 100 meter dash (15.26 seconds).
Kadie Flynn (Appleton, WI/North) also took home first place in both the Discus throw (47.17 m) and the Hammer throw (52.88 m).
The Pointers also had top-five finishers in Lindsay Born (Appleton, WI/North) in both the 100 meter dash (fourth, 13.63 seconds) and the 200 meter dash (fifth, 29.22 seconds), Holly Winberg (Forest Lake, MN/Forest Lake) (third, 4:58.60) and Emily Schlebecker (Mundelein, IL/Mundelein) in the 1500 meter run. Megan School (Wittenberg, WI/Wittenberg-Birnamwood) took home second place in the 200 meter run posting a time of 28.60 seconds.
UWSP also had point scorers in Aryn DeGrave (Big Bend, WI/Mukwonago) in the 400 meter hurdles (second, 68.47), Bailey Paske (second 1.54 m) and Jamie Watry (Bonduel, WI/Bonduel) (fifth, 1.49m) in the high jump. Shannon Burke (Sussex, WI/Hamilton) and Angela Brunig took home third and fourth place in the pole vault for UWSP Burke cleared 3.55 meters and Brunig clearing 3.40
Rounding out the scoring was Isabella Weekly (Plainfield, WI/Tri County) in the long jump (third, 5.21 meters), and Ana Hogan in the Triple Jump (fourth, 10.25 m).
Men's Results
UWSP won the invitational by a staggering 33 points, after earning first place finishes by Dylan McGuire (Luxemburg ,WI/Luxemberg-Casco) in the 400 meter dash (51.04), Travis Wallenberg in the 800 meter run (1.59.86), Ben Jurenec in the 1500 meter run (4.08.89) , Takuto Kobayashi (Franklin, WI/Franklin) 400 meter hurdles (56.15 sec.), the 4x100 relay team (44.57 sec.) , Josh Jones (Downers Grove, IL/South) triple Jump (13.68 m), Mac James long jump (6.98 m) and Tylar Kohnke (North Fond du Lac, WI/Horace Mann) in the javelin throw 55.08 meters
The Pointers also had top finishers in Colin Myer in the 200 meter dash (second, 23.18), Ryan Spahn (DeForest, WI/DeForest) and Alex Egbert (La Crosse, WI/Aquinas) in the 1500 meter run finishing in second and third. Spahn posted a time of 4:09.05 and Egbert following at 4:10.04.
Also scoring points was Michael Pomaville (Dousman, WI/Mukwonago) in the 400 meter hurdles (second 57.62), Daniel Sikora (Cary, IL/Cary-Grove) and Abraham Skwira (Holdingford, MN/Holdingford) who posted times of 10:38.82 and 10:42.82 to finish second and third.
UWSP will return to action on May 6 and 7 for the WIAC Championships at UW-Whitewater.
