STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team dropped a pair of games to UW-Stout on a blustery Saturday afternoon at McCarty Memorial Field on Senior Day 5-2 and 3-1.

The Blue Devils (16-18) used a three-run fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead and hold on for the 5-2 win in game one of the doubleheader. In the inning, Sara Griesbach had a two-run double and Rachel Thomas had an RBI single.
The Blue Devils then added a run in the top of the fifth inning on a home run by Alyssa Germscheid. The Pointers (12-22) then answered in the bottom half of the inning with a home run of their own by
Paige Allen (South Elgin, IL/South Elgin).
The Pointers had one last rally in the seventh inning, when
Payton Mix (New London, WI/New London) hit a one out double. She was then followed by a double by
Paige Allen (South Elgin, IL/South Elgin), which advanced Mix to third.
Morgan Johnson (Combined Locks, WI/Kaukauna) then delivered an RBI groundout before
Bailie Sheahan (Salem, WI/Wilmot Union) lined out to left to end the game.
Maddie Durie (Appleton, WI/East) took the loss for the Pointers, pitching four innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out four. Tori Workman picked up the win for Stout, allowing just one run over 5.2 innings.
Mix and Allen each ended with two hits for the Pointers, while seven different players collected a hit for the Blue Devils.

Tori Workman hit a game-winning two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to lead the Blue Devils to a 3-1 win and a sweep of the Pointers.
The Pointers got on the scoreboard first by an RBI single from
Alyssa Cooper (Little Suamico, WI/Bay Port) scoring Sheahan, who singled and stole second to lead off the inning. The Blue Devils then tied the game in the third inning on an RBI single by Beth Wood.
The Pointers had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the seventh, when
Morgan Johnson (Combined Locks, WI/Kaukauna) singled and advanced to second on a passed ball. After a Sheahan strikeout, Johnson advanced to third on a wild pitch, but the inning ended on a strikeout by
Jodi Vanderford (Kenosha, WI/Mary D. Bradford).
With two outs in the eighth inning, Workman then hit the game-winning two-run homer. Workman also picked up the win on the mound, pitching six scoreless innings in relief and striking out nine.
For the Pointers,
Amelia Heup (Milwaukee, WI/Lutheran) got the start pitching three innings before being relieved by Durie. Durie took the loss in game two as well, allowing two runs in five innings of work. Cooper led the Pointers with two hits and an RBI, while Sheahan had a hit and a run scored.
The Pointers finish out the regular season on Tuesday at McCarty Memorial Field, where they host Wisconsin Lutheran in a doubleheader. Game times are 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
