STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team swept UW-Platteville for the second consecutive day 1-0 and 9-2 behind strong pitching at University Field on Saturday afternoon.

Ben Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton) drove in
William Iloncaie (East Troy, WI/East Troy) in the bottom of the 15
th inning to give the Pointers (15-13, 7-5) a 1-0 win over the Pioneers (13-16, 1-11) in game one of the doubleheader. Iloncaie doubled to lead off the inning, and then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Clint Rose (Watertown, WI/Watertown). Gerber then drove him in on a fielder's choice for the walk-off win.
Cole Erickson (Deerfield, WI/Deerfield) started the game for the Pointers, and threw eight scoreless innings with six strikeouts.
Drew Spaeth (Stratford, WI/Stratford) then came in and threw four innings in relief.
Alex Stodola (Coleman, WI/Coleman) pitched the final three innings picking up the win.
For Platteville, Lucas Keller pitched 11 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out nine. Riley Vandenberg pitched 3.1 innings and took the loss.
At the plate, Rose had 3 of the Pointers' five hits. Colin Deboer and Zack Iverson each had two hits for the Pioneers.

The Pointers scored six runs in the third inning to take an 8-0 lead and coasted to a 9-1 victory in game two.
Turner Doornink (Clintonville, WI/Clintonville) drove in the first run of the inning, and later came around to score on an RBI bunt single by
Clint Rose (Watertown, WI/Watertown).
Ben Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton) then drove in two runs with a single, and the scoring was capped off by an RBI single from
Ray Greco (Downers Grove, IL/North).
Gerber also had a two-run single in the second inning, and finished 2-3 with four RBIs and a run scored.
Cody Hanke (Marathon, WI/Marathon) and Greco each had two hits and a run scored in the game. Six players had one hit for the Pioneers.
On the mound,
Alex Thompson (Tomah, WI/Tomah) picked up the win, pitching six innings striking out three and allowing one run. Austin Daniels took the loss for the Pioneers, allowing eight runs (four earned) and striking out three in three innings.
The Pointers are back in action on April 26, when they travel to St. Scholastica for a doubleheader. Game times are scheduled for
1 and 4 p.m.
