OSHKOSH, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point Softball team dropped both games of a double header with UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday afternoon at the UW-Oshkosh Softball Park, falling by scores of 4-2 and 13-3 (5 innings).
UW-Oshkosh 4, UW-Stevens Point 2
Haley Bayreuther went 4-4 with three RBI to lead UW-Oshkosh (14-4, 6-0 WIAC) to a 4-2 win over UW-Stevens Point (7-14, 0-2 WIAC) in the first game of the afternoon.
Bayreuther hit a two RBI triple in the fourth inning to give the Titans a 3-1 lead heading into the fifth inning, and singled home an insurance run in the sixth inning
In the top of the third, Bailie Sheahan (Salem, WI/Wilmot Union) hit a RBI single to centerfield to give the Pointers an early 1-0 lead, before UW-Oshkosh three run frame in the fifth.
In the top of the sixth, the Pointers would get a run back after Katie Uhlenbrauck (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville) reached on a throwing error scoring Sheahan, before Bayreuther RBI in the sixth.
Amelia Heup (Milwaukee, WI/Lutheran) pitched 3.1 innings for the Pointers and Maddie Durie (Appleton, WI/East) pitched 2.2 innings in relief. Sara Brunlieb pitched a complete game for UW-Oshkosh
UW-Oshkosh 13, UW-Stevens Point 3 (5 Innings)
Hayden Kreuger drove in four runs while going 2-3 to lead UW-Oshkosh a 13-3 victory over UWSP in the second game of the afternoon.
Krueger hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning as part of five run frame to take a 13-2 lead.
In the top of the second, the Pointers scored two runs on two hits, to cut the lead to one, before UWO added three runs in the bottom half.
In the fifth, Payton Mix (New London, WI/New London) drove in her third RBI of the season cutting the into the Titans lead.
Amelia Heup (Milwaukee, WI/Lutheran) took the loss, pitching 0.2 innings, while Averi Kanyuh (Rapid River, WI/Rapid River), Maddie Durie (Appleton, WI/East) and Cassidy Winter (Westfield, WI/Westfield) combined for 3.3 innings of relief. Claire Robbe pitched 4.0 innings in a win for UW-Oshkosh.
Sheahan combined for a 4-for-7 performance in the doubleheader.
UW-Stevens Point will return home to open the home half of its season, taking on WIAC foe UW-La Crosse on Saturday in a doubleheader. Games are scheduled for 1 pm and 3 p.m. at McCarty Memorial Field.
