RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Lawrence Cornellier (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) found the back of the net in double overtime to give the fourth-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team a 4-3 victory at Hunt Arena to win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Commissioners Cup Championship.

At 2:35 in the second extra period, Cornellier found a pass on the back door from Kyle Sharkey (Moore, OK/Insight School of Kansas) to give UWSP (21-5-2) its first playoff championship win since the 1992-93 season.
UW-River Falls (16-7-5) scored three goals in the third period to force an overtime period in the span of 2:32, midway through the period. UWRF got goals from Christian George, Zach Schrotenboer and Danny Hamburg.
The Pointers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after Alex Brooks (Grand Rapids, MI) scored on slap shot from the point at 8:11.
At 6:19 of the second period, Drew Graves (Allen Park, MI/Allen Park ) put home a rebound goal to double the UWSP lead.
Just 4:48 into the third period, Sharkey netted his 17th of the season to give UW-Stevens Point a 3-0 lead, before the UW-River Falls third period rally.
UW-Stevens Point out shot the Falcons 45-27. Sophomore goaltender Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI) made 24 saves for the Pointers, including making 11 in the first overtime period. Tanner Milliron made 41 saves for UW-River Falls.
