AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Pointers posted a split on Wednesday, posting a 12-1 victory in the day's opener before falling 5-2 to Southern Maine in the night cap.

UWSP vs. SMMark Kowalke (Baraboo, WI/Baraboo) picked up the win in the opener against Washington & Jefferson, fanning five Presidents en route to the complete game, seven inning victory. He allowed just three hits on the afternoon.
A RBI double by
Clint Rose (Watertown, WI/Watertown) got the scoring started early for UWSP and the Pointers never looked back, racking up 11 of their 12 runs in the first three innings.
Ben Diedrick (Kimberly, WI/Kimberly),
William Iloncaie (East Troy, WI/East Troy) and
Ben Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton) each drove in two runs and
Ray Greco (Downers Grove, IL/North) scored three times in the victory.
The Pointers bats went cold in the day's second game, as the Pointers craped together just six hits while Southern Maine touched-up starter
Luke Watson (Appleton, WI/Xavier) for 12 hits over six innings, chasing him from the game.
Ben Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton) had a hand in both the Pointers runs, plating Iloncaie after reaching base on an error in the seventh and then came around to score on a Rose single.
UW-Stevens Point (2-5) takes on SUNY-Oswego in a 2:30 p.m. EST contest at Lake Myrtle Field in Auburndale on Thursday before concluding their trip Saturday, March 25 against St. Joseph's.
