GRINNELL, Iowa –
Jerry Williams (Watertown, WI/Watertown) set a new school record on his way to a runner-up finish in the triple jump, earning his second All-American honor of the championship, helping lead the UW-Stevens Point men's indoor track & field team to a runner-up finish at the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.
ResultsThe Pointer women finished tied for 76th, collecting 0.5 team points. The men collected 17 team points, good for 10th.
Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes UW-Eau Claire, UW-Whitewater and UW-La Crosse finished 1-2-3 on the men's side. On the women's side, Baldwin Wallace took home the team title.
Williams set a new school record in the triple jump and in the process finished as the national runner-up in the triple jump, posting a distance of 15.03 meters (49' 3.75") and earning his second All-American award of the 2016 championship. Williams finished third in the long jump Friday.
Darin Ward (Fond du Lac, WI/St. Mary's Springs), coming of Friday's blistering school-record time in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles, garnered his first All-American award with the Pointers, finishing eighth in a time of 8.25 seconds.
Neil Pedersen (Clarendon Hills, IL/Hinsdale Central) finished seventh in the mile, earning All-American status, finishing in a time of 4:12.85.
Kadie Flynn (Appleton, WI/North) placed 10th in the shot put with a toss of 13.23 meters (43' 5.0").
Jeremy Lee (Viroqua, WI/Viroqua) finished 10th in his first nationals appearance, collecting 4,682 points.
