Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Bollinger's third-period goal, Conley's 29 saves result in 1-0 win over Blugolds

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – A third-period goal by Shauna Bollinger (Menomonie, WI/Menomonie) and 29 saves by Sydney Conley (South St. Paul, MN/South St. Paul) gave the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey its third consecutive one-goal win with a 1-0 victory over UW-Eau Claire on Saturday afternoon at Ice Hawks Arena.

Box Score

Bollinger netted the only goal of the game at 9:20 of the third period on the power play from Hailey Rock (Hammond, WI/Central) and Conley took care of the rest for UW-Stevens Point (13-7-2, 5-3-2 WIAC). The freshman netminder posted her third shutout of the season and her 29 saves against UW-Eau Claire (9-10-4, 2-6-2 WIAC) are the most of any of her three shutouts.

Conley and UW-Eau Claire goaltender Paige Turner kept both teams off the board through the first two periods. Bollinger broke the deadlock 1:21 into UW-Stevens Point's third power play of the final period, scoring her third goal of the season.

UW-Stevens Point outshot UW-Eau Claire 35-29 in the game but Turner made 28 stops to nearly match Conley save for save. The Pointers were 1-for-6 on the power play in the game with all six opportunities coming in the third period and killed off the Blugolds' lone chance with an extra skater in the second.

The win improved UW-Stevens Point to 11-3 in games decided by one goal this season, meaning 11 of the team's 13 wins have come by the slimmest of margins. The Pointers also remained undefeated against the Blugolds at home, moving to 26-0-2 all-time.

UW-Stevens Point heads to UW-Superior next weekend, Feb. 12-13, for an important conference series with the Yellowjackets. The Pointers are four points ahead of the Yellowjackets in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) standings.
