OSHKOSH, Wis. –
Shannon Burke (Sussex, WI/Hamilton) broke the school record for the pole vault for the second week in a row and the Distance Medley Relay finished runner-up to lead the Pointers on day one of the 2016 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships (presented by Culvers) at the Kolf Sports Center.
Day One ResultsA week after setting the school mark in the pole vault, Burke did it again, this time en route to a WIAC title in the event, clearing 3.80 meters (12 5.5").
The DMR team of
Emily Schlebecker (Mundelein, IL/Mundelein),
Jacklyn Butler (Oshkosh, WI/West),
Karly Tennant (Black River Falls, WI/Black River Falls) and
Holly Winberg (Forest Lake, MN/Forest Lake) finished runner-up, posting a time of 12:30.98.
Isabella Weekly (Plainfield, WI/Tri County) finished tied for sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.59 meters (5' 2.5").
Megan School (Wittenberg, WI/Wittenberg-Birnamwood) was sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.21 meters (17' 1.25").
Kadie Flynn (Appleton, WI/North) finished fourth and
Jordan Tyjeski (Beaver Dam, WI/Beaver Dam) seventh in the shot put, with Flynn posting a toss of 13.56 meters (44' 6") and Tyjeski 12.52 meters (41' 1").
Jacklyn Butler (Oshkosh, WI/West) posted a time of 9.06 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles and qualified for the finals in the event on Saturday.
Hannah Mertens (West Bend, WI/Hartford Union) and
Leah Trempe (Combined Locks, WI/Kimberly) finished 3-4 in the 400-meter dash, posting times of 58.06 and 58.14, respectively.
