Jerry Williams (Watertown, WI/Watertown) and
Neil Pedersen (Clarendon Hills, IL/Hinsdale Central) captured individuals event titles and
Darin Ward (Fond du Lac, WI/St. Mary's Springs) set a new school record to lead UW-Stevens Point on day one of the 2016 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships (presented by Culvers) at the Kolf Sports Center.
Day One ResultsWilliams soared to the conference title in the long jump with his distance of 7.11 meters (23' 4.0").
Jordan Richards (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) finished second,
Alec Dix (WIld Rose, WI/Wild Rose) third and Ward fifth.
Brent Reierson (Watertown, WI/Watertown) finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 15.39 meters (50' 6.0").
Pedersen took home the conference title in the mile run, finishing in 4:08.93, just :00.49 seconds behind the WIAC meet record held by former Pointer
Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn).
Darin Ward (Fond du Lac, WI/St. Mary's Springs) set a new school record in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, posting a time of 8.21 seconds.
Adam Strehlow (Whitefish Bay, WI/Whitefish Bay) also qualified for the finals with a time of 8.53.
Williams also qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash, snagging the last spot in the finals with a time of 6.99 seconds in the prelims
