STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 11 UW-Stevens Point men's track & field team got four first-place finishes and finished third to a pair of top-five teams at the Pointer Quad on Saturday afternoon at the Multi-Activity Center.
Results Darin Ward (Fond du Lac, WI/St. Mary's Springs) was first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.27 seconds, matching his school record from Jan. 30.
Cole Fitzgerald (De Pere, WI/West De Pere) won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.81 to win the event for the second consecutive meet.
Benjamin Jurenec (Mequon, WI/Homestead) claimed the 3,000-meter run, crossing the line first in 8:50.73.
Tanner Akers (Westfield, WI/Westfield) posted a first-place finish in the triple jump (12.49m, 40' 11.75"), followed by
Andre White (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech), who was second (12.13m, 39' 9.75").
Nicholas Melotte (Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon) finished second in the 400-meter dash (50.25), while Lukas Johnston was the runner-up in the 5,000-meter run (15:21.84).
Jordan Richards (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) came in second in the long jump (7.05m, 23' 1.75") and
Logan Heil (Weston, WI/DC Everest) (16.59m, 54' 5.25"), and
Brent Reierson (Watertown, WI/Watertown) (15.93m, 52' 3.25") were second and third in the weight throw.
UW-Stevens Point finished with 146 points, 19 behind No. 5 UW-Whitewater and 42 behind No. 3 UW-Oshkosh.
The Pointers host the Big Dawg Invite on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Multi-Activity Center.
