STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Second-ranked Adrian tallied two goals in the final period to skate to a 4-4 with the No. 4 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team Friday evening at K.B. Willett Arena.
With just under six minutes remaining in third period, Bud Madej scored for Adrian (8-1-2) to force an overtime period with UW-Stevens Point (8-2-2).
In the first period, Lawrence Cornellier (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) scored his first goal of the night, to put the Pointers up 1-0 5:28 into the game.
Just 1:32 later, Bryan Yim scored a power-play goal for Adrian to cut into the Pointers' lead heading into the second period.
At the 5:48 mark of the second period, Vinny Post evened the game at two, off assists by Cory Dunn and Blake Butzow.
At 11:05, Cornellier picked up the puck in the neutral zone and scored a shorthanded goal to take back the UWSP lead.
Just 4:37 later, Eliot Grauer (Mukilteo, WA/Kamiak) scored on the power play, to put UWSP up 4-2 heading into the final frame.
Midway through the final period, Adrian's Conor Armour scored to cut into the Pointers' lead before the Madej equalizer 4:26 later.
UWSP outshot the Bulldogs, 31-25. Junior goaltender Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI) made 21 saves for UW-Stevens Point, while Kevin Entmaa made 27 for Adrian.
UW-Stevens Point will close out the weekend series with Adrian tomorrow evening at K.B. Willett Arena for a 7:00 p.m. start. Fans can purchase tickets to be entered to win an autographed Joe Pavelski jersey.
