Men's Hockey Defeats UW-Superior 4-0

SUPERIOR, Wis.— Senior Forward Jacob Barber (Dardenne Prairie, MO) tallied a goal and an assist to lead the No. 4/5 UW-Stevens Points men's hockey team to a 4-0 win over UW-Superior, Saturday evening at Wessman Ice Arena.

Following a scoreless first period, Barber opened the scoring for UWSP (8-2-1, 2-0-0 WIAC), tallying his eight goal of the season 13:38 into the second period.

Just 1:39 later, Ryan Bittner (Crookston, MN) scored a power-play goal to put the Pointers up 2-0 over UW-Superior (4-8-0, 0-2-0 WIAC) heading into the final period.

In the third period, Eliot Grauer (Mukilteo, WA/Kamiak) scored 2:03 in, off an assist by Ethan Strong (Kinmount, ON) to extend the UWSP lead.

Midway through the final frame, Jono Davis (La Verne, CA) scored an insurance goal on the power play, off assists by Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, OK) and Barber.

Junior Goaltender Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI) made 22 saves earning his second shutout in as many days. Bryce Fink made 33 saves for the Yellowjackets.

UWSP finished going 2-for-7 on the man advantage. UWSP warded off all four of UW-Superior power-play opportunities.

UWSP will close out the 2016 calendar year by taking on Adrian on Dec. 9 and 10 at K.B. Willett Arena. Friday night's contest will feature the Furniture and Appliance Mart raffle followed by the Joe Pavelski jersey raffle on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
