Milosek Records Shutout and Goal in Conference Opening victory over UW-River Falls

STEVENS POINT, Wis.— Junior goaltender Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI) recorded his third career shutout, as well as tallying a goal and an assist to lead the No. 4/5 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team to a 3-0 victory over UW-River Falls in the WIAC opener on Friday evening at K.B. Willett Arena.
Milosek made 15 saves including seven in the final period to guide UW-Stevens Point (7-2-1, 1-0-0 WIAC) to its first conference victory of the season.
With just under two minutes remaining in the first period, sophomore forward Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, OK) put an airborne puck past the glove of UW-River Falls (2-7-1, 0-1-0 WIAC) goaltender Zach Quinn to give the Pointers a 1-0 lead.
After a scoreless second period, Milosek was credited with an empty net goal at the 16:44 mark of the third period on a delayed penalty. Milosek is the first goaltender in program history to be credited with a goal.
Just 2:10 later, Eliot Grauer (Mukilteo, WA/Kamiak) scored an empty net goal on an assist by Milosek sealing the UWSP victory.
Quinn finished with 27 saves for UW-River Falls.
The Pointers return to action tomorrow evening, traveling to UW-Superior. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Wessman Ice Arena.
