STEVENS POINT, Wis. – A 20-0 run in the first quarter by the No. 23 UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team (6-1) helped the Pointers roll to a 95-72 win over visiting North Central (4-4) on Tuesday night at Berg Gym. The 95 points by UWSP is the most in a game since the Pointers scored 99 points against Wisconsin Lutheran on Nov. 21, 2006.

Taylor Barrett (Monroe, WI/Monroe) had a career-high 21 points and senior
Lauren Anklam (Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) recorded her first double-double of the season. Barrett and senior
Autumn Hennes (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) both contributed 20-plus points in the game. Anklam,
Taylor Douglas (Brodhead, WI/Brodhead) and
Carly Cerrato (De Pere, WI/De Pere) each added 11 points in the win and Anklam dished out 10 assists.
UWSP shot 50.7 percent from the field for the game, including 44 points in the paint, and held the Cardinals to just 32 percent shooting for the game. The Pointers out-rebounded the Cardinals 51-46 leading to 23-6 second-chance points advantage.
Lexi Roland (New London, WI/New London) and Hennes each hit a bucket in the first minute of play before NCC hit its first three of the game a minute and a half into the game. Then UWSP went on the 20-0 run holding the Cardinals scoreless for nearly eight minutes. NCC put together a feeble 4-0 run before
Mickey Roland (New London, WI/New London) hit a basket in the final seconds for a 26-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Barrett and Anklam combined for the first seven points of the second quarter as the lead hovered near 20 points for the first half of the quarter. Hennes added eight points later in the quarter as the lead ballooned to 26 and the Pointers were up 48-26 at the half.
The Cardinals scored the first five points of the second half before back-to-back buckets by Hennes. The teams traded baskets the remainder of the quarter and NCC cut the Pointers lead down to 13 by the end of the third.
Douglas hit back-to-back threes to open the fourth quarter for UWSP. Later in the quarter, Cerrato buried a three as the Pointers pushed the lead back to 22 and UWSP cruised to the win.
The Pointers head to Michigan this weekend for the Hope Post Exam Jam. UWSP will face Rochester College on Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT. Friday's game begins a four-game road trip to end 2016.
