Moorhead, MINN. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team was unable to come back from a three-goal deficit, falling to Concordia College (Minn.) 3-1, this Friday evening in Moorhead, Minn. at Moorhead Sports Center.
The Pointers (1-2) challenged the Cobbers (1-0) goaltender 28 times, but were only able to find the back of the net once, while Concordia managed three goals on 28 shots.
In the first period, Concordia tallied two goals from Megan Dondelinger and Jess Nelson. The Pointers got off eight shots of their own in the period, but unable to get one past Andrea Klug.
Two minutes into the second period, Tori Davis, assisted by Chelsey Petrich added to the Cobber's lead. After two period of play, the Pointers fell behind 3-0.
Meredith Ingbretson (Hayward, WI/Hayward) scored her second goal of the season at the 2:55 minute mark of the third period. Freshman
Maddie Monroe (Aurora, IL/Batavia ) earned her second point in three games with the assist.
UWSP had four opportunities where they had the person advantage, but were unable to produce any points on the four power plays.
The Pointers complete the series against Concordia tomorrow, Sat. November 5 at 1 p.m.
