Men's Hockey Skates to 3-3 Tie with Gustavus-Adolphus

Box Score ST. PETER, Minn.— Despite scoring two goals in the final period, the No. 1 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie with Gustavus-Adolphus on Friday evening at Lund Arena.

With 5:52 remaining in the third period, Gustavus-Adolphus (1-1-1) Evan Erickson scored to even the game at three to force an overtime period with UW-Stevens Point (2-0-1)

In the first period, Jono Davis (La Verne, CA) scored a power-play goal to give the Pointers a 1-0 midway through the opening frame.

With 3:51 remaining in the opening period, Drew Aspinwall tied the game at one for the Gusties, entering the second period.

In the second period, Sam Majka scored the lone goal of the period, giving Gustavus a 2-1 advantage heading into the final period.

Just 38 seconds into the third, Nathan Harris (Fowlerville, MI) scored his first goal of the season evening the game at two.

With 6:49 remaining in the third period, freshman forward Austin Kelly (Toledo, OH) scored his first collegiate goal putting home a rebound off a shot by Baxter Kanter (Lincoln, NE) to give the Pointers a short lived lead, before Erickson goal just over a minute later.

UW-Stevens Point outshot Gustavus 39-19. Junior goaltender Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI) made 16 saves for the Pointers, including three in the overtime period. Chris Amsden made 36 stops for the Gusties.

UW-Stevens Point continues its Minnesota road trip taking on Bethel on Nov. 5 at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
