Box Score ADRIAN, Mich.— Despite scoring two power-play goals, the No. 2/4 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team fell to No. 3/4 Adrian, 6-3, at Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday night.
In the first period, the Pointers (6-2-1) found themselves down 2-0 early after Adrian's Matt McNair and Vincent Paquette scored goals in the span of 3:33.
At the 14:59 mark of the opening period, Connor Armour scored to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead heading into the second period.
In the second period, Austin Hervey scored to increase the Adrian (6-1-0) lead to 4-0, scoring at the 3:41 mark.
Midway through the middle period, senior defensemen Trace Strahle (Anchorage, AK/Robert Service) scored a power-play goal off an assist by Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, OK) to get the Pointers on the board.
At the 13:22 mark of the second period, Kyle Brothers scored to give Adrian a 5-1 advantage.
With just under three minutes remaining in the second frame, Lawrence Cornellier (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) tallied his fifth goal of the season to put the Pointers within striking distance in the final period.
Just 3:04 into the third period, Cornellier netted his second goal of the evening on the power-play to cut the Adrian lead to 5-3.
Bryan Yim scored an empty net goal with 1:11 seconds remaining to put Adrian up 6-3.
Adrian outshot UWSP 33-24. Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI) recorded 27 saves for UWSP, while Kevin Entmaa made 21 for Adrian
UWSP took advantage of the extra skater, going 2-for-4 on the power play. UWSP penalty killing unit warded off six of Adrian's seven power play opportunities.
UWSP will take on the United States National Team Development Program U-18 team tomorrow afternoon in Plymouth, Mich., at 1:00 p.m. CST.
