Men's Hockey Downed by Green Knights

Box Score ASHWAUBENON, Wis.— Despite scoring a pair of goals in the second period, the top-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team suffered its first loss of the season falling 5-3 to No. 2 St. Norbert on Saturday evening at Cornerstone Community Center.

UW-Stevens Point (6-1-1) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on St. Norbert (7-1), after Jacob Barber (Dardenne Prairie, MO) found the back of the net, just 1:52 into the opening period.

Midway through the first period, St. Norbert scored a pair of goals in the span of 31 seconds from Pijus Rulevicius and Riley Christensen to take a 2-1 lead.

With 5:23 remaining in first period, Jeremy Olinyk scored to give the Green Knights a 3-1 lead heading into the second period.

Just 40 seconds into the second period, Jono Davis (La Verne, CA) scored for UWSP cutting the lead to 3-2.

At the 3:04 mark of the second frame, Brad Pung scored for St. Norbert to go up 4-2.

With 3:28 to go in the second frame, Eliot Grauer (Mukilteo, WA/Kamiak) scored on the power-play off assists by Davis and Tanner Karty (Oklahoma City, OK) to cut the lead to one going into the final period.

St. Norbert's Roman Uchyn scored a power-play goal with 12:13 remaining in the final period to put the Green Knights back up by two.

St. Norbert outshot the Pointers 28-17. Jesse Gordichuk (Penticton, BC) made 23 saves for UWSP, while TJ Black made 14 for St. Norbert.

The Pointers will return to action on Nov. 26 traveling to Adrian, before an exhibition game against the United States National Development Program U-18 team the following afternoon.
