STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Four Pointers scored in double figures as the No. 22 UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team (2-0) powered past Luther (0-2) by a 66-51 final in the opening game of the Pointers Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night.  Senior Autumn Hennes (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) led all scorers with 16 points.

Fellow senior Lauren Anklam (Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) contributed 12 points and Taylor Douglas (Brodhead, WI/Brodhead) had a game-high eight boards for the Pointers.  Junior Mickey Roland (New London, WI/New London) and sophomore Payton Mix (New London, WI/New London) added 11 and 10 points, respectively.  UWSP shot 41 percent from the field while holding the Norse to 32 percent shooting.

Hennes and Anklam hit back-to-back buckets near the mid-way point of the first quarter as UWSP created a bit of separation to go up 10-5.  Roland and Mix added baskets to extend the advantage to 15-5 and the Pointers took a six-point lead to the second quarter.

Douglas converted an and-one less than a minute into the second frame to push the lead to 11.  Hennes had a pair of late makes and Roland added a pair of points in the paint in the final minute as the Pointers took a 32-19 halftime edge.

Roland ended an early-second half charge by Luther to snap a 6-0 run by the visitors.  Anklam hit back-to-back buckets including her lone three-pointer of the game later in the quarter to push the lead to 14.  Lexi Roland (New London, WI/New London) and Hennes also hit from beyond the arc as the Pointers led by 18 heading to the final quarter.

Mix hit three-straight buckets for the Pointers midway through the fourth quarter as the lead grew to 23 and the Pointers rolled to the 66-51 win.
