Grauer Scores Pair to give Men's Hockey Fifth Win of the Season

Box Score STEVENS POINT, Wis.— Senior forward Eliot Grauer (Mukilteo, WA/Kamiak) netted a pair of goals and an assist to lead the UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team to a 5-2 victory over Saint John's University on Saturday evening at K.B. Willett Arena.

With 2:24 remaining in the second period, Eliot Grauer (Mukilteo, WA/Kamiak) tallied his second goal of the evening which would prove to be the game winner to give the Pointers (5-0-1) a 3-1 lead over Saint John's (3-2-1) heading into the final period.

After a scoreless first period, Grauer got the Pointers on the scoreboard just 1:57 into the second period, off assists by BJ Duffin and Stephan Beauvais (Shelby Township, MI).

Senior forward Jacob Barber (Dardenne Prairie, MO) extended the Pointers lead at the 5:20 mark of the second period, netting UWSP's first of two power-play goals on the evening, putting UWSP up 2-0.

Just 34 seconds later Huba Sekesi scored to cut into the lead early in the second frame.

In the third period, Willem Nong-Lambert (Des Moines, Iowa ) scored his first goal in a UWSP uniform, 8:19 into the final period on the power play to give the UWSP a 4-1 lead.

With just under three minutes remaining in the third period, Brady Heppner scored for Saint John's to make it a 4-2 game, before Lawrence Cornellier (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) tallied and empty net goal 53 seconds later to seal the Pointers victory.

UWSP outshot Saint John's 28-25. Jesse Gordichuk (Penticton, BC) made 23 saves for the Pointers, while Andrew Lindgren made 23 for the Johnnies.

The Pointers return to action next weekend with a pair of road games at Marian and St. Norbert on Nov. 18 and 19. Both games are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
