DE PERE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (4-10-0) held a lead at halftime, but home standing St. Norbert (6-4-1) rallied to send the match to overtime where the hosts won it in the 108th minute, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon.
The Green Knights got on the board first, netting a goal in the 13th minute of action. The Pointers found the equalizer in the 36th minute off the foot of sophomore
Olivia Bohnert (Oshkosh, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran). She received a feed from
Lexi Ahrens (Appleton, WI/Appleton East) for a wide-open shot to tally her third goal of the year.
Moments later, UWSP was the beneficiary of a St. Norbert own goal and took a 2-1 lead into the break.
The lead was relinquished in the 54th minute after a sharp angle shot deflected in to knot the match at 2-2.
The teams headed to overtime. In the 108th minute, the Green Knights got a breakaway. UWSP's goalkeeper attempted to make the stop, but the ball trickled past and into the net for the game-winner.
UWSP returns to Point Soccer Bowl for a conference match against UW-Platteville on Saturday (Oct. 15) at 1:00 p.m.
