STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The UW-Stevens Point women soccer team (4-9-0, 0-3-0) fell to UW-Stout (3-7-1, 1-2-0) by a 2-0 score on Saturday afternoon at the Point Soccer Bowl.
The Pointers earned the first two corners of the match, but it was the visiting Blue Devils that found the back of the net first. UW-Stout scored from close range in the 24th minute.
UWSP would earn three more corner kicks in the first half, but go into the break trailing, 1-0.
In the 49th minute, the Blue Devils doubled their lead. UWSP goalkeeper
Sarah Peplinski (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) would turn aside four more shots in the match, but the Pointers could not find the offense to get on the board.
Freshman
Reilly Louko (Oakfield, WI/North Fond du Lac) led the Pointers with four shots, two on net. Sophomores
Sydney Swatloski (Green Bay, WI/Green Bay East) and
Olivia Bohnert (Oshkosh, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) also forced the UW-Stout keeper to make saves.
The Pointers head to De Pere, Wis. to take on St. Norbert on Oct. 9 at 1:00 p.m. UWSP host UW-Platteville on Oct. 15 at 1:00 p.m.
