STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (5-12-0, 1-5-0) had its home finale spoiled by visiting UW-River Falls (6-8-2, 2-3-1) on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to the Falcons.
UWSP goalkeeper
Sarah Peplinski (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) made a pair of early saves, one in the third minute and another in the 12th minute to keep the match scoreless. But UW-River Falls found the back of the next in the 41st minute on a sharp-angle break away from about 18 yards.
UWSP's
Maddy Hardyman (Red Wing, MN/Red Wing) took the ball off the opening whistle of the second half and forced the Falcons' goalkeeper to make a save just 13 seconds into the second 45. Ten minutes later,
Olivia Bohnert (Oshkosh, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) tested the UWRF keeper to no avail.
The Pointers earned a pair of late corners kicks, but were not able to convert on either.
UWSP will travel to league front runner UW-Whitewater next Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. contest to conclude the season.
