Hass, Louko Strike to Lead Pointers to Win at Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. – Sophomore Kortnee Hass (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) and freshman Reilly Louko (Oakfield, WI/North Fond du Lac) tallied early second-half goals and the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (5-11-0, 1-4-0) notched its first conference win of the year with a 2-1 victory at UW-Oshkosh (7-7-1, 2-3-0) on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Elise Thuot (Hatley, WI/D.C. Everest) sparked the Pointers' offense by testing the Titans' goalkeeper in the second minute of play.  Later in the half, Louko and fellow freshman Chloe Pallex (Pulaski, WI/Pulaski) fired shots to no avail.

The second half started with a bang for UWSP.  In the 47th minute, Hass got the Pointers on the board with a shot off the cross bar and in, her third goal of the season.  Freshman Amanda Maestas (Plano, TX/Plano Senior High) was credited with an assist, her second helper of the year.

In the 60th minute, Louko doubled the Pointers' lead.  She scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season from close range.  Thuot picked up an assist on the play, her second of the year.

The host Titans pulled within one in the 75th minute with a goal.  But sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Peplinski (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) made three of her five saves down the stretch to secure the victory.

UWSP concludes the regular season home slate on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. match versus UW-River Falls.  The Pointers close out the regular season at UW-Whitewater on Saturday, Oct. 29 with a 4:00 p.m. matchup against the Warhawks.
