Kadie Flynn (Appleton, WI/North) posted the second-best hammer throw in the country this season, breaking her own school record in the process, to headline the UW-Stevens Point women's outdoor track & field team's performances at the St. Norbert Private College Championships on Saturday.
ResultsFlynn's throw of 57.13 meters (187' 5") broke her own school record by over four feet and was the best throw at the met by over 25 feet. The junior also won the discus throw (43.62m, 143' 1") by over 10 feet.
Shannon Burke (Sussex, WI/Hamilton) won the pole vault for the third time this outdoor season, clearing 3.54 meters (11' 7.25").
Nicole Hanson (Clintonville, WI/Clintonville) was third in the event with a vault of 3.24 meters (10' 7.50").
Stephanie Nielsen (Anoka, MN/Anoka) fell 0.02 meters short of a personal-best in the long jump, winning the event with a jump of 5.27 meters (17' 3.50"). The win was the second time the freshman has won the event this season.
Tiara Rose (Shiocton, WI/Hortonville) picked up her first-career outdoor win in the triple jump finishing first in the field (10.85m, 35' 7.25").
The Pointers also had a trio of runner-up finishes at the event.
Paige Haberkorn (Oconomowoc, WI/Oconomowoc) was second in the 1,500-meter run and set a personal record (4:58.37),
Aryn DeGrave (Big Bend, WI/Mukwonago) was second in the 400-meter hurdles (67.23) and
Cara Jansen (North Liberty, IA/Iowa City West) placed second in the hammer throw and also set a personal record (49.38m, 162' 0").
Sarah Vils (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) ran to third-place finishes in both the 100-meter (13.06) and 200-meter dashes (28.51), while
Jamie Watry (Bonduel, WI/Bonduel) finished third in the high jump (1.53m, 0.25").
UW-Stevens Point was not scored in the team rankings at the meet. The Pointers turn their attention to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships at UW-La Crosse on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.
