DES MOINES, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point men's outdoor track & field team had two relays place fourth at the Drake Relays on Friday afternoon.
Results The 4x800-meter relay of
Michael Evans (Reedsville, WI/Valders),
Ryan Wierzba (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt),
Calvin VanRyzin (Appleton, WI/North) and
Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn) took fourth with a time of 7:36.84. In the finals, the quartet cut nearly eight seconds off its seed time.
Dennis Haak (Belleville, WI/Belleville), Alex Oestreich,
Dane Tyler (Janesville, WI/Parker) and
Neil Pedersen (Clarendon Hills, IL/Hinsdale Central) also placed fourth in the distance medley relay, finishing in 10:09.44.
In the 4x400 meter relay, Evans,
Matt Sosinsky (Princeton, WI/Princeton),
Nicholas Melotte (Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon) and
Matt Gerber (Tomahawk, WI/Tomahawk) came in 27th in the preliminaries after finishing in 3:21.10.
The Drake Relays conclude on Saturday, April 25.
