STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team fell 7-3 and 7-4 to UW-Oshkosh in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) doubleheader that featured 10 home runs on Senior Day on Wednesday afternoon at McCarty Memorial Field.

UW-Oshkosh 7, UW-Stevens Point 3 | Box

UW-Oshkosh (25-9, 11-3 WIAC) and UW-Stevens Point (13-21, 3-8 WIAC) each hit three home runs in the game but the Titans broke a 3-3 tie with two-run home runs in the fifth and seventh innings to take the opener.

After the Pointers tied the game at 3-3, Hayden Krueger hit a two-run home run to center field in the fifth that accounted for the game-winning runs. Katie Koepsel added a two-run shot to right center in the seven to give the Titans some insurance.

Sam Raddant (Shawano, WI/Shawano) led off the game with a home run to center to give UW-Stevens Point an early lead. The Titans scored the next three runs, two on a home run by Elizabeth Fonk in the second, to take a 3-1 lead.

Solo home runs by Breanna Ellison (Pepin, WI/Pepin) and Paige Allen (South Elgin, IL/South Elgin) tied the game for the Pointers after three innings. Ellison's home run was her second in three games, while Allen's was her sixth of the season, tying for the team lead.

With the Titans up 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Bailie Sheahan (Salem, WI/Wilmot Union) nearly gave the Pointers the lead but Krueger robbed her of a three-run home run with a leaping catch at the center field fence.

Sara Brunlieb improved to 16-3 this season by allowing three runs in five innings for UW-Oshkosh. Clare Robbe picked up her third save with two shutout innings.

UW-Oshkosh 7, UW-Stevens Point 4 | Box

Fonk's two-out, two-run single in the fifth broke open a 4-4 tie as UW-Oshkosh claimed the sweep. Brunlieb earned her second win of the day and 17th of the season by allowing three hits in three shutout innings of relief of Robbe.

Krueger's second two-run home run of the day started the scoring in the first, as the Titans got out to a 4-0 lead after two and a half innings. However, the Pointers came right back by scoring the next four runs of the game.

Jordon Schreiner (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) nailed a three-run home run to center in the third to bring the Pointers within one. The home run was the senior's sixth of the season, tying her with Allen for the most on the team.

In the fourth, Sheahan hit her first home run in a UW-Stevens Point uniform to tie the game at 4-4. Sheahan had her second three-hit game of the season, falling a triple short of the cycle.

UW-Stevens Point is back in action on Saturday, April 25 with a doubleheader at UW-La Crosse at 1 and 3 p.m. The Pointers then play a twin bill at UW-Platteville the following day.
