ROCK ISLAND, Ill. –
Kadie Flynn (Appleton, WI/North) set the school record in the hammer throw for the second time in three meets to lead the UW-Stevens Point women's outdoor track & field team to a second-place finish with one event yet to be completed at the Augustana Invitational at Paul V. Olsen Track on Friday afternoon.
Results UW-Stevens Point's total of 152 points was second to Olivet Nazarene's 165 with one event remaining. The heptathlon will be finished on Saturday.
Flynn broke her own school record, set on April 3 in Whitewater, with a throw of 55.85 meters (183' 3") and also won the hammer throw for the second meet in a row, doing so by over five meters. The junior also won the discus (48.60m, 159' 5") and placed third in the shot put (12.15m, 39' 10.50") to lead the Pointers.
UW-Stevens Point also had three other top-two individual finishes in field events.
Shannon Burke (Sussex, WI/Hamilton) won the pole vault for the seventh time this season, clearing 3.60 meters (11' 9.75").
Tiara Rose (Shiocton, WI/Hortonville) and
Megan School (Wittenberg, WI/Wittenberg-Birnamwood) posted second-place finishes in the triple jump (10.80m, 35' 5.25") and long jump (5.40m, 17' 8.75"), respectively.
Lauren Dilley (Middleton, WI/Middleton) won the 10,000 meter run with a personal-record time of 38:01.15, which was nearly 40 seconds faster than her previous career-best time.
Abby Clement (Reedsburg, WI/Reedsburg) came in second in the 200-meter dash (25.92), while
Jacklyn Butler (Oshkosh, WI/West) was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles (63.25).
Ana Breit (Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Pacelli) placed third in the 1,500-meter run (4:39.63), setting a personal record by nearly 20 seconds in the process.
The Pointers also had a pair of top-three relay finishes. Butler, School,
Stephanie Nielsen (Anoka, MN/Anoka) and Clement were second in the 4x100-meter relay (48.95), while
Kathy Derks (Greenville, WI/Hortonville), School,
Leah Trempe (Combined Locks, WI) and
Aryn DeGrave (Big Bend, WI/Mukwonago) placed third in the 4x400-meter relay (3:59.87)
The Pointers' relays will compete at the Drake Relays, held Thursday-Saturday, April 23-25 in Des Moines, Iowa. The rest of the team will be at the St. Norbert Invite on that Saturday.
