CLERMONT, Fla. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team closed out its trip to Florida by defeating Gallaudet 11-3 in five innings before dropping a 7-6 decision to Calvin on Tuesday evening.

Paige Allen (South Elgin, IL/South Elgin) and
Katie Uhlenbrauck (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville) each hit three-run home runs to power UW-Stevens Point (6-7) past Gallaudet (2-7).
Breanna Ellison (Pepin, WI/Pepin) earned her first collegiate victory on the mound by holding the Bison to three runs in five innings with five strikeouts and no walks.
Jodi Vanderford (Kenosha, WI/Mary D. Bradford) hit a two-run double in the first to give UWSP a 2-1 lead that would grow to 6-1 after two innings. Allen followed a
Bailie Sheahan (Salem, WI/Wilmot Union) RBI single with a three-run blast to give the Pointers the 6-1 lead.
Gallaudet crept with 6-3 with single runs in the third and fourth but Uhlenbrauck's first-career home run stretched the lead to 9-3. Run-scoring singles by
Carley Green (Cumberland, WI/Cumberland) and
Sam Raddant (Shawano, WI/Shawano) plated runs in the fifth to end the game via the eight-run rule.
Nine players registered at least one hit for UW-Stevens Point and six drove in at least one run. Sheahan scored three times in the game.
Calvin 7, UW-Stevens Point 6 | BoxTrailing 7-4 going to the top of the seventh, UW-Stevens Point scored two runs to get within one but Makela Chapman stranded the game-tying run on base to record the save for Calvin (3-1). Vanderford knocked in two runs with a two-out single in the seventh for UW-Stevens Point.
The Pointers got out to a 3-0 lead after an inning and a half after Sheahan and
Jordon Schreiner (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) drove in runs with singles in the second. However, the Knights scored four times on five hits in the second to take the lead.
Uhlenbrauck tied the game with her second homer of the day in the third but Calvin used a three-run fourth to take a 7-4 lead that Chapman would close out.
Sydney Gorges (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville) went the distance for UW-Stevens Point and struck out five in six innings of work. Her counterpart Paige Groom improved to 3-0 for Calvin by allowing two earned runs in 4.2 innings with six strikeouts.
The Pointers outhit the Knights 10-7 in the game but were plagued by five errors. Schreiner and Uhlenbrauck each tallied three hits for UWSP, while Sheahan had two.
UW-Stevens Point returns from its trip to face Luther in a doubleheader at 3 and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 in Decorah, Iowa.
