CLERMONT, Fla. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team rebounded from a 7-2 loss to No. 13 St. Thomas by defeating Bethel 6-5 in 10 innings on Saturday afternoon.
No. 13 St. Thomas 7, UW-Stevens Point 2 | BoxUW-Stevens Point (5-4) scored twice in the top of the first to lead No. 13 St. Thomas (8-1) but the Tommies' Kendra Bowe shut down the Pointers for the final 6.1 innings. Bowe replaced starter Breezy Bannon in the first inning and held UWSP to three hits and recorded the final 19 outs.
The Pointers pushed across two unearned runs in the first, one on a fielder's choice and another on a single by
Katie Uhlenbrauck (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville). St. Thomas came back with one in the bottom of the frame and added two runs each in the third, fourth and sixth innings.
Katie Jo Delisle knocked in the first two UST runs and Bianca Peterson hit a two-run home run in the sixth. Peterson went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI in the game and McKenzie Wergin was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI.
Sydney Gorges (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville) tossed all six innings for UWSP and fell to 3-2 on the year. Bowe improved to 3-0 for St. Thomas.

Jordon Schreiner (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) and went on to top Bethel (2-3) when
Paige Allen (South Elgin, IL/South Elgin) scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Allen started the bottom of the 10th being placed on second and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Bailie Sheahan (Salem, WI/Wilmot Union). The freshman then scored on a passed ball for the walk-off win.
The Royals led 4-1 going to the bottom of the seventh and retired the first two Pointers' hitters of the inning. Down to their final out, UWSP got singles from
Sam Raddant (Shawano, WI/Shawano) and
Maddie Sawdey (Medford, WI/Medford) before Schreiner tied the game with her second long ball of the season.
Both teams scored once in the ninth inning, as Bethel took a 5-4 lead on a sacrifice fly by Shelbi Swenson in the top of the inning, before pinch-runner
Cassidy Winter (Westfield, WI/Westfield) scored on a wild pitch to send it to the 10th.
Miranda Morrison (Madison, WI/East) earned the win, pitching four innings of shutout ball in relief of
Breanna Ellison (Pepin, WI/Pepin). Morrison fanned four batters in her four innings after Ellison gave up three unearned runs in six.
UW-Stevens Point is off on Sunday, March 15 before facing Greenville (5 p.m. EST) and Benedictine (7 p.m. EST) on Monday, March 16.
