WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –
Shannon Burke (Sussex, WI/Hamilton) earned All-American honors in the pole vault with a sixth-place finish to highlight the performances of three UW-Stevens Point participants at the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Results Burke, who finished 17th in the country last season, placed sixth (3.70m, 12' 1.5") to becomes UW-Stevens Point's first-ever All-American in the pole vault. The junior had qualified 10th in the event.
Kadie Flynn (Appleton, WI/North) placed 10th in the weight throw (16.35m, 53' 7.75") after being seeded 12th in the event. Flynn was also appearing at the national championships for the second year in a row after qualifying in the discus and hammer throws in 2013-14.
Ana Breit (Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Pacelli) was also competing in her second-straight national championship meet and finished 16th in the preliminaries of the mile run (5:16.84).
Burke's 2.5 points from the pole vault put UW-Stevens Point in a tie for 34th in the team standings after the first day.
