RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team held its fifth-straight opponent under 53 points, defeating UW-River Falls 45-38 on the road on Wednesday evening at the Karges Center.

Joann Wolfenberg (Adell, WI/Plymouth Comprehensive). The last time the Pointers held a team to a lower shooting percentage was on Nov. 20, 2012, when UWSP held Marian to 14.6 percent in a 68-19 victory.
The win gives the Pointers a regular-season split with the Falcons. UWSP has won 11 of the last 13 games in the series.
UW-Stevens Point held UW-River Falls scoreless for the first 10:11 of the game on its way to a 9-0 lead.
Sarah Gamillo (Colby, WI/Colby) scored four points during the run and the Falcons missed their first 15 field-goal attempts.
After the cold start, the Falcons used a 12-2 run to take a 12-11 lead with 5:59 to go until halftime. The Pointers closed the half on an 11-5 run, including a buzzer-beating jumper by
Taylor Barrett (Monroe, WI/Monroe).
Wolfenberg scored the first six points of the second half as UWSP extended its lead to 28-17. UW-River Falls closed to within five, 32-27, with 12:00 remaining and eventually tied the score at 36-36 with 4:16 left.
UW-Stevens Point ended a 7-0 UWRF run with a layup by
Kaitlyn Jacobs (New Franken, WI/Green Bay Preble) and held the hosts scoreless for nearly two minutes, building a four-point advantage in the final three minutes. The Pointers proceeded to make five-of-six free throws down the stretch to seal their fourth road win of the season.
Wolfenberg shot 6-for-8 from the field, finishing as the only double-digit scorer for the Pointers. Jacobs added seven points and a team-high eight rebounds for UWSP, which held a 22-10 advantage in points in the paint.
Kate Theisen led the Falcons with 13 points and nine rebounds, shooting 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. The Pointers held Theisen and Taylor Karge, UWRF's top-two scorers, to a combined 4-for-25 from the field.
UW-River Falls was just the third team all season to outrebound UW-Stevens Point, holding a 51-43 edge on the boards behind 21 offensive rebounds. The Falcons were 4-for-28 (14.3 percent) from behind the arc in the game.
