UW-Stevens Point (11-11, 6-7 WIAC) and UW-Platteville (14-8, 7-6 WIAC) entered the game with identical 6-6 marks in conference play and the score was tied 65-65 with 2:11 remaining. However, the Pioneers' Alyssa Krajco hit a pair of layups to give UWP a 69-65 lead with 38 seconds remaining and they held on.

In the final 15 seconds, a steal and layup by Allie Miceli (Marseilles, IL/Ottawa Township) brought UWSP to within three but UW-Platteville's Keeley Schulz hit a pair of free throws to make it a five-point game. Down five, Kaitlyn Jacobs (New Franken, WI/Green Bay Preble) made a layup with two seconds to go but the Pointers were unable to steal the inbounds pass and time expired.

UW-Stevens Point committed 26 turnovers in the loss, five in the final 3:22, and UW-Platteville turned them into a 31-9 advantage in points off turnovers. Krajco scored a game-high 21 points, while Stacy Clark added 17 for the Pioneers.

Lauren Anklam (Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) had her second 20-point performance in the last three games, finishing with a team-best 20 points for UW-Stevens Point. Anklam was 6-for-15 from the field, including 4-for-11 from three-point range.

Miceli came off the bench to record her second double-double of the season. The junior had 11 points and eight rebounds in the second half alone and wound up with 13 points and 11 boards

Except for one 31-second span, UW-Stevens Point led from the 15:48 mark of the second half until Clark's three-pointer with 2:44 to go gave the Pioneers the lead for good. UWSP led by as many as five after an Anklam three with 4:32 remaining.

In the first half, the Pointers built an 11-6 lead in the first six minutes, only for the Pioneers to take a 13-point lead with an 11-2 run. UW-Platteville made three three-pointers during the run to take the largest lead of the afternoon for either team.

UW-Stevens Point fought back to get within three at the break. Anklam ignited a 19-9 close to the half for UWSP with eight-straight points as UWP took a 40-37 lead into the locker room.

The Pointers shot 26-for-51 (51.0 percent) from the field in the game, matching the team's percentage from a 71-59 win over nationally-ranked St. Norbert on Dec. 13, 2014. UW-Platteville shot 41.9 percent but committed just eight turnovers in the game.

UWSP outrebounded UWP 43-23 in the game, led by Miceli's 11 boards.

At halftime, the team presented a check for $6,000 to the Saint Michael's Foundation. The money was raised through several team fundraisers and benefitted Project Embrace.
